Steven Spearie has been a full-time reporter at The State Journal-Register since 2018 covering education and breaking news. Before that, Spearie was a correspondent for The State Journal-Register from 1989 to 2018. He has also been on the staff of the Jacksonville (Ill.) Journal Courier and Catholic Times (Springfield, Ill.) Spearie is a former sports information director at MacMurray College, his alma mater. He has worked as a defense and private investigator and as a security specialist . Spearie is a native of Springfield, Ill.
