Two dead following collision Friday night on Illinois 4 south of Chatham

A 17-year-old girl from Virden and a 31-year-old man from Beardstown died Friday when their vehicles collided on Illinois 4 just south of Chatham.
According to , at approximately 10:05 p.m. a 2016 Dodge SUV driven by the 31-year-old heading north crossed the centerline and collided with a 2002 Chevrolet SUV being driven south by the 17-year-old.
Jim Allmon said both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. There were no passengers in the vehicles.

Autopsies are currently underway and the identities of the deceased are pending notification of next of kin.
State police and the coroner's office are investigating the accident.
