Camp Lejeune Marine dies during training exercise, prompting investigation

A Marine stationed at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, North Carolina died late Thursday evening during a training exercise, the Marine Corps announced.

The service member was with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, the said Friday in a post on X.

The Marine died during the exercise in Carteret County, North Carolina, the post continued.

The Marine's identity won't be released until 24 hours after all next-of-kin are notified, the arms force said.

The incident is under investigation, according to the X post.
